Phthalocyanine dyes are designed to block the far visible portion of the spectrum.  Phthalocyanine pigments are used extensively in paints and opaque-colored plastics.

The Phthalocyanine dyes are soluble in common organic solvents and have excellent thermal stability.  They will stand up to long-term epoxy curing unlike amminium and dithiolene nickel dyes.
